So 2017 is upon us and as the year progresses faster than ever so does the world of technology and in particular the android box which is something we get asked about quite a bit since our post last August. A lot has changed since our last post. Android 6.0 has been released which is now the most up to date version of the open source operating system. Along with this, Kodi 17.0 has been released which will not run on the now outdated but still very popular version of android 4.4. So if you are running android 4.4 Kodi 17.0 and more recent versions that will be released in the future will not be able to run on android kitkat. Older versions of Kodi will still run fine but eventually Android 5.1 or 6.0 will be needed. If you have got a android box from our sister site at www.androidtvaustralia.com then send us an email on how to upgrade your box.
Some other changes are in the hardware which is always getting smaller and faster. The Q box for example has been released and has proven to be quite popular. Older boxes used to run on 1GB of RAM which are still available but are plagued with problems especially when running Kodi. They simply do not have the resources to run the android operating system and Kodi altogether. These boxes were selling for quite a low price so were popular but many of them I can imagine have had issues and from what I have heard they don’t really last too long also so you are better off getting a 2GB box at least in the future.
Other than that much is the same apart from some bad press on the legality of the boxes. The boxes of course are not illegal but can be used to stream illegal content..but then again so can a laptop. So comment below and let us know what android box you are running and give us some feedback on this post if possible!
